JL - 7.8.09 The freight traffic was infrequent today but the weather was excellent all day. In superb summer evening light 66150 rattles north through Birkett Common with the 6S00 Clitheroe to Mossend loaded cement tanks. This was just minutes before the scene was plunged into complete shadow by a bank of thick cloud.

JL - 16.10.09 With no cement, no gypsum, no 4S11, 6K05 running light engine and only 1 southbound coal all day it was very quiet on the S&C today. However, some information from Kirkby box indicated that there would be a late afternoon coal. 66014 is seen heading north at Birkett with the 6S72 Worksop - Ayr DBS coal empties. The best shot of the day however was of the logs over on the WCML. Previous | NextJL - 25.3.09 Without a doubt my favourite time of year for photographing on the S&C is late March and April. In my opinion the quality of light at this time of year beats any other month by a country mile. Despite appearances threre was a lot of cloud around today, I was able to get out at lunch and photograph the gypsum which is still in the hands of DBS traction. 66051 winds upgrade through a blustery Birkett Common.
